Quality Assurance

Other Services

At Covenant MFG, we stress reliable relationships with other local and reputable manufacturers as extremely important. Because of this, over the years we have built up a network of manufacturing services other than milling. This means we offer a complete suite of manufacturing, guaranteeing every step of the manufacturing process.

These processes include:

Design and Repair

Many new projects start out designed for function only, but in such a way that requires astronomical manufacturing costs. With knowledge of the industry and manufacturing abilities, we can help modify your design in order to keep quality and function, while dropping manufacturing costs. Sometimes this is as simple as a design change, while at other times we can suggest alternative manufacturing methods based on your required function, finish, quantity, or time frame.

Repair is also notoriously difficult. Manufacturing methods for new parts are relatively straightforward,  but sometimes the parts you need are so unique or expensive that instead, a repair or modification makes more sense. With parts like this, we have the knowledge of metallurgy, methods available, and engineering required to get you up and running again.

How We Price

Custom parts can vary in price per part depending on a number of factors. Typically, if you can order a mass produced part off the shelf, that will be a cheaper alternative to using a custom manufacturer like us.
At Covenant MFG, we make pricing as simple, transparent, and straightforward as possible to offer the most competitive costs while still making sure you get the exact parts you need on time.

Pricing is based on total hours by job shop rate, divided by the number of parts.

Shop rate can vary by a number of factors including the current state of the economy, unknowns, and difficulty involved, however we typically charge around $100-$160/hr

Two types of estimated time costs are involved: Setup Time, and Run Time

Our formula for giving you a guaranteed price?

Run Time x Number of Parts, + Setup Time, + Material Cost = Your Total Cost

Setup Time is the time it takes to analyze your design, to program our machines, and to ensure the first part meets quality specifications. Please note that repeat orders have significantly reduced setup time involved.

Run Time is the time it takes the machine itself to manufacture each subsequent part. Repeat orders can reduce this time as well, by applying techniques of scale to make them faster.

Many of our customers run extremely tight schedules and require parts to be made quickly, sometimes with same-day turnaround. If this is the case for you, a 33% expedite fee may apply but we do our best to work within your budget and constraints.

What this means for you

We  charge a minimum of 1 hour  for setup time. Moderate complexity parts tend to require 4 hours, while extremely complex parts may require 10+ hours. The more parts required, the lower the price per individual part as the setup time is spread across every one.

For example, let's say we estimate a part at 2 hours of setup time, and 15 minutes of run time, at a rate of $100/hr.

At qty 1, the cost for you is $225. At qty 5, the cost goes down to $65 each. At qty 100, the cost is $27/pc.

Guaranteed Price

At Covenant MFG, the quoted price is the quoted price. Many shops quote a price based on the estimated time and costs involved, but charge you more if the time is more than estimated. We don't do this, and in case of unforeseen problems we prefer to take a monetary loss than charge you more than agreed upon.

Guaranteed Lead Time

The same policy applies to our lead times as it does to our prices. Most orders of most quantities take between 14-30 days to complete, but may be possible sooner without expedite fees depending the quantity, complexity, and workload.
However, it is becoming increasingly commonplace for manufacturing shops to blow past deadlines as well as budgets. We are convinced this is a breach of integrity and prefer to either simply tell you ahead of time that we cannot make your part on time, take a loss via our internal costs, or in the rare case it is actually impossible to complete on time, we will negotiate an acceptable refund or credit for future orders.
